Chromatography, Thermal Analysis and Electrochemistry Unit

THE UNIT IN 2015

The Chromatography, Thermal Analysis and Electrochemistry Unit supports ICIQ researchers in the mentioned techniques.

Moreover, Unit technicians manage open use instrumentation such as glove boxes and solvent purification systems, micro and submicro balances, two melting point apparatus, a vapour pressure osmometer, a centrifuge and a freeze dryer.

The Unit also gives support in the use of the chromatographs and glove boxes belonging to research groups.

During 2015, the Unit has started working with supercritical CO2 chromatography, giving a great performance to separate chiral compounds. As a consequence of this new technique introduction, the number of samples analysed by HPLC has decreased to 250 in 2015, 34% of which were analysed by normal phase HPLC and 66% by reverse phase.

In general, in 2015 the Unit staff has analysed more samples than ever before as can be seen in the chart on the right
