High Throughput Experimentation CELLEX-ICIQ Laboratory
THE UNIT IN 2015
The High Throughput Experimentation (HTE) laboratory is a facility that makes the instrumentation and know-how to run a large number of reactions and analyze them in a short period of time accessible to all ICIQ researchers.
The facility is set up to run different kinds of reactions in 24 or 96 well plates, including those that are air sensitive, reactions with reactive gases, photochemical reactions or reactions under pressure conditions. Moreover, the Laboratory is stocked with a large number of reagents, solvents, metals and ligands to run the reactions.
Regarding the analysis of the reactions, the lab is equipped with an NMR spectrometer and three chromatographs: a GC-MS, a UHPLC-MS and a supercritical CO2 chromatograph with diode array or MS detector.
This Unit started its activities on June 2014 and during 2015 has been consolidated. HTE has become a technique well stablished at the ICIQ, and the Unit works every day to try to adapt all kinds of reactions to be run in HTE conditions. In 2015 the Unit has developed a new reactor to work with gas as a reagent and has improved the setup for running photochemical reactions.
During 2015, 165 experiments have been run, with an average of 41 reactions per experiment. This means that almost 7000 reactions have been run and analysed in the HTE Unit in 2015.
