Photophysics Unit
THE UNIT IN 2015
The Photophysics Unit is specialized in the field of material characterization. At a highly applied research level, this laboratory provides ICIQ researchers with equipment for molecular photovoltaic and organic LED device characterization, such as device efficiency, stability, charge recombination processes, etc.
The main projects developed in the Photophisics Unit during 2015 are as follows:
- Set up of optic fiber system with monochromator and Xe light source
- Set up of several LED plates for photocalalytic reactions
- Modification and programming of the instrument dedicated to the study of charge recombination lifetime
- Software corrections in the instrument dedicated to the study of charge recombination lifetime
- Tests using N2 laser to measure in the IR
- Setup of a laser at 355nm with Nd:YAG laser
- Transient absorption spectroscopy experiments at 355nm
- Motorized system to automatize the interferometric filters to be used with a white optic fiber laser
- Setup and programming of a new TAS system with a time resolution of 1 ns
Moreover, the Unit has been involved in the design of photocatalysis reaction blocks together with the High Throughput Experimentation Unit and the Mechanical Workshop.
The use of the self-service mode instruments during 2015 can be seen in the following chart:
