X-Ray Diffraction Unit

THE UNIT IN 2015

The X-ray Diffraction Unit gathers all the techniques which are based on the diffraction of X-rays on crystalline solids. In this Unit two principal techniques are available: Powder X-ray Diffraction and Single Crystal X-ray Diffraction.

Regarding single crystal diffraction, in 2015, 737 crystals were submitted. This is 11% less submitted crystals than the previous year. Nevertheless, the percentage of measurable crystals was higher than ever before: up to 77% of submitted crystals were measured. Moreover, up to 394 CIF were prepared for researchers, also more than ever before.

These results are due to a higher efficiency of the measurement process and a higher quality of the data obtained from the single crystal diffractometer acquired in 2014.

Regarding powder diffraction, 66% of the samples measured were submitted by Crysforma users, while the number of samples from other ICIQ researchers, increased by 52% from the previous year.
